Sokoo Senegal Petrol Station Facade Application

Optimal Mimarlik carried out the design work for the capped curtain wall system of the Sokoo petrol stations in Senegal. The facade system was developed by evaluating the site conditions, reinforced-concrete foundation design, load-bearing steel structure and overseas installation process as an integrated whole.

Capped Curtain Wall System

A capped curtain wall system was selected to complement the architectural appearance of the petrol stations. The system details were developed to create an orderly facade composition, ensure compatibility with the supporting structure and enable the installation process to be carried out in a controlled manner.

Custom Anchors for the Foundation and Steel Structure

Instead of using standard connection solutions, the reinforced-concrete foundation design and load-bearing steel construction of the project were examined. Custom anchor details were developed to connect the capped curtain wall system securely to the main structure.

The positions and connection methods of the anchors were determined according to the interface conditions between the reinforced-concrete foundation and the steel structure. This provided a project-specific and practical connection solution between the facade system and the existing supporting structure.

Fabrication and Installation Drawings for Overseas Application

Detailed fabrication and installation drawings were prepared to enable the local team in Senegal to implement the system correctly. Every facade module was individually coded, and its position, connection relationships and installation arrangement were clearly identified in the project documents.

The drawings were developed in sufficient detail to enable even an installation team that had not participated in the project development stage, worked according to different technical practices and working cultures, and was located far from the design office to understand and assemble the system correctly. The fabrication and installation project therefore became a clear and shared technical communication tool between the design team and the overseas installation team.

Engineering Approach to International Facade Projects

The Sokoo Senegal project is an international facade application that demonstrates the importance of accurate facade detailing and clear technical documentation when the design office and site team are geographically distant. Optimal Mimarlik focused on transferring the design decisions accurately to the fabrication and installation processes, creating a comprehensive facade project that could be implemented by the local team.
